Tips to Help You Get Your Student out of Bed

When it comes to returning to school after the summer break, it can often seem like the impossible task for parents to get their children out of bed on time in the morning. If you are struggling with this, help is at hand! Below are some great tips from The Tutoring Center, Rosenberg TX on the subject.

Start a Bedtime Routine

Often it can be difficult for children to simply go to bed and then sleep. Instead, get their mind ready with a bedtime routine which helps them to wind down. For example, an hour before bed, allocate some time to reading. Then, follow this up with brushing their teeth, completing any of their nightly chores, and then send them to bed. Soon, their brain will start to recognize the routine and they will start to drift off to sleep earlier, helping them to wake up ready to get out of bed.

Remove Electronic Devices from Their Bedroom

Electronic devices in the bedroom are a serious distraction for even the most disciplined child. To prevent them from staying up all night in bed swiping through social media posts, instill a rule in which these items are not allowed in the bedroom and must be left in the kitchen at night. This has the benefit of requiring them to get out of bed in the morning just to check their notifications and respond to their messages. This is a great motivator for any teen!

Breakfast Reward

If you have the time to cook in the morning and your child has a favorite breakfast food, use this as a reward. Set a time at which you agree to be in the kitchen and, if they make it out of bed and in the kitchen by this time, you will cook them their favorite food. While it might seem like a long shot, you can bet that a grumbling morning stomach can be a powerful motivator.
